Welcome to College of Nurisng,
Ewha Womans University
Ewha Womans University College of Nursing traces its roots to 1903, when Margaret Edmunds, an American missionary nurse, started Korea’s first nursing education program in Boguyeogwan, the first women’s hospital in Korea. Ewha launched the first four-year Bachelor of Nursing program in Korea in 1955, and the Department of Nursing was promoted to the country’s first nursing college in 1968. In 1960, the first Korean master’s degree program in nursing was established, and in 1979, the doctoral degree program was initiated. In 2014, Korea’s first undergraduate Global Health Nursing program was inaugurated to cultivate international leaders in health and nursing.
Our goal is to foster nurses equipped with practical skills and global competence. Our faculty, who are among the most distinguished educators and researchers in the country, strive to foster excellent nursing leaders by giving personalized attention to each student. In addition, the Graduate School operates a variety of programs to enhance students’ global research capacity. As a result, graduates of the College of Nursing are taking on leadership roles in nursing practice, education, and research, as well as health policy, both in Korea and abroad.
The importance of nursing has been increasingly recognized in recent years with the growth and specialization of the areas of nursing, due to Korea’s entry into an aged society and the changes in the health care environment. Ewha Womans University College of Nursing hopes to meet the demands of the times and establish its global presence by producing professional nurses and nursing leaders with practical skills, global competence, and outstanding research capacity. Thank you.
